Roa Altaweli is a Consultant Midwife from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Currently she is working as the Director of Midwifery Department at the Ministry of Health. Roa is a founding board member and the Chairperson of the Saudi midwifery group (SMG). She is an ICM board member representing the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Roa is holding a BSc in Nursing from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. After obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery from Bahrain, she was appointed as a midwife at the National Guard hospital in Jeddah and then a teaching assistant at Dar Al Hekma University in Jeddah. Roa pursued a more academic route by achieving a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Practice of Midwifery from Kings College London and MSc and PhD in Midwifery from City University London. She was the first midwife from Saudi Arabia to obtain a PhD in Midwifery. When she returned to Saudi Arabia, she worked as a part time Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University Jeddah at the Maternity and Child Nursing Department and then joined Ministry of Health (MOH) East Jeddah Hospital as Clinical Nursing Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. She participated in the opening of the OBGYNE services and opened the Midwife clinic in East Jeddah Hospital.

Insaf Shaban is associate professor currently works as a Vice Dean for Postgraduate studies & Research as well as lecturer in College of Nursing at Taibah University, Saudi Arabia. Insaf’s background is in Nursing. She has worked as a lecturer and an academic maternal health researcher at Al albayt University in Al Mafraq, Jordan. She has nursing degree (1991), a post-graduation in Midwifery (1998), a MSc in General Nursing Education (1999) from Jordan University, and Doctor of Midwifery (DMid) from University of Technology, Sydney-Australia. She has a taught Maternal Health to nursing students for a number of years in Jordan as well as Saudi Arabia. Her research focuses on Normalize Childbirth, postpartum home visits, with a particular interest in midwifery education. She has carried out research on pregnancy and childbirth, and the use of evidence in midwifery practice. She has currently taking a leave from Al al-Bayt University -Jordan
